The Miraculous Medal is a most important Catholic Sacramental. It's great power derives from God the Holy Spirit through a promise made by the Blessed Virgin Mary: "Those who wear it, blessed, around their neck will receive great graces. The graces will be abundant for those who wear it with confidence."
Praying the Miraculous Medal. The Miraculous Medal can also be a great aid in deepening our experience of God in prayer and meditation. For example, set aside a quiet time for prayer. Sit quietly with the Medal. it may help to hold it with hands in the lap. Then reflect slowly on - and pray with confidence - the meditation prayer (below). One's whole prayer time, fifteen minutes, even an hour, may be profitably spent this way. Our Lady's presence may be felt, since she comes to those who believe and want to be with her. Or she may communicate the Holy Spirit via insights, spiritual understandings, healings, forgiveness.
Daily Miraculous Medal Prayer
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you, and for all who do not have recourse to you, especially for the enemies of the Holy Church and for those recommended especially to you.
Meditation Prayer with the
Miraculous Medal
O Mary, this medal is a sign and a guarantee of your presence. You are present because your power is present, your voice is present and your love is present.
Therefore, O Immaculate Conception and Mother of the Church, we call on you now to fulfill your guarantee. Rain down upon us the great graces you promised to those who carry this medal, especially to those who wear it around their neck. Make us perceive your presence now and always. Make us consciously experience your power, love an guidance, that in your mediation we may begin to share in your perfect response to God and to each of His creatures, and join in your war against the ancient serpent.
Help us to abandon our self-centered feelings and preoccupations. Help us to accept our sufferings, offering them back to the Father through you. Teach us to listen and learn, that by becoming one with you in purpose, we might fully respond to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, participating in the life and unity of the Trinity through your intercession. Amen.
